Alright, so I got WOW and my 256 RAM that's been in my computer from the start must be kind of full. I can't really afford it, but I'm going to buy some RAM.
I need to know what's the best way of freeing up some space to get the game running smoother, and also...
If I end up buying new RAM for my computer I need to know a couple of things.
1: Will 256 or 512 RAM be added to the 256 I already have in there, and if so... do you think it's enough to get the game up and running smoothly?
2: Is it easy to install? I've read up on it and it seems easy enough. I need to get a grounding wrist strap, so no static shock occurs and destroys the RAM I'm about to put in
3: Can I just pick up the newest RAM and put it in or are there different types? Not sure how to do this, but I believe learning this stuff now will cease any future headaches.
I figure if I could dump out everything off my HD already and get everything up and running again, that I can install the RAM by myself without any trouble.
All feedback would be greatly appreciated, as I'm thinking about picking up the RAM tomorrow at either Bestbuy/Radioshack/Target.

Also....
Also, found this out from Gateway.com.
"Type of memory module ( shipped ) RIMM Continuity Module ( C-RIMM )
What does that mean? How many pins am I looking for?

I talked to a Gateway representative.
The guy told me I would have to buy two sticks, because you need to install them two at a time.
256 MB PC800 RDRAM for a price of 174.99 each ( x 2 = 349.98 )
That's wayyyyyy to much money for me to be thinking about right now. Is there a better option?

I don't know much about computer or RAM in general, but I'm pretty sure $175 each is WAY ripping you off. You should be able to find it much cheaper.

I would go into this long winded post, but I'll just make it short.
Spent a few hours hunting down memory. Idiotic morons at Best Buy/Geek Squad make me wait for 1.5 hours, before telling me my type of memory needed is obsolete and that I have to order it online.
Ebay has my sticks at an average price of $200.00 plus S/H.
I'm not happy right now.

This is what I need...
Either 2 128 PC800 RDRAM 184 Pin Rimm = 256MB + The 256 I already have in there ( 128 sticks x 2 ) = 512MB
or
2 256MB PC800 RDRAM 184 Pin Rimm = 512MB
Either one I'll be happy with, if I can get it for under $150.00
Again, I'm cringing that I have to pay that much for this crap, but what am I going to do? I didn't know my computer was crap until I installed WOW.

Thanks for all the help guys. I took the link and found what was exactly needed. Two 128MB from Samsung. ( same two that I already have in there ) and only paid a total of about $100.00

Nice Dark, glad you found it for a reasonable price. You really don't need to go buy a grounding strap, just touch some metal before you install an dont move around. To be extra safe perform installation on anything but a carpet. Like the bathroom or something.

I'm probably going to lay down some newspaper. That should be good enough. I'll get the memory on Thursday night and have it installed by Friday. I should be all set to play without any trouble.

Or put it up on a table or something in the kitchen, that's what I do. Having more RAM is always a good thing!
